Workshop Overview

This workshop was delivered as part of a high school project where we were tasked with teaching a chosen IT topic to a class. Our team selected Data Science and Web Scraping, aiming to introduce these concepts to 5th-year high school students. The workshop emphasized professionalism and helped us develop teaching and presentation skills by guiding others through complex technical topics.

• Introduction to Data Science: We provided an overview of data science, covering key concepts like data collection, cleaning, analysis, and visualization. The goal was to make students understand the importance of data in decision-making.
• Web Scraping: We explained web scraping as a method of automating data collection from websites. The workshop included a demonstration on how to scrape real-world data using Python and libraries like BeautifulSoup and Selenium.
• Hands-On Session: Students were guided through the process of scraping a website and storing the collected data for analysis. This practical session allowed them to implement what they had learned and interact with the tools firsthand.
• Use Cases and Ethics: We discussed professional use cases of web scraping in fields like e-commerce, journalism, and marketing. Ethical considerations were also highlighted, emphasizing the importance of adhering to website terms and respecting data privacy laws.
